Volunteering trips 2026

March - April 2026 - Chiang Mai, Thailand

A two week volunteering trip to the Northern part of Thailand, in the area around Chiang Mai. Week one we spent a few days at Makkawan Agroforestry farm, learning hands-on about agroforestry and sustainable agriculture. A pilot project that follows the teachings of the King Bhumibol Adulaydej, where a monoculture is transformed into a rich and equilibrated ecosystem. The second part of the week we worked at an elephant sanctuary that hosts around 100 injured elephants, Elephant Nature Park. We were involved in a major planting project preparing a new land where more elephants will move. The elephants being all around us we got to talk, listen and hear them!

The second week we are off working in a remote Hill Tribe village helping the villagers with three road drainage projects they had askeded support for. It was real team work where body language and smiles went a long way. All projects were accomplished and finished as planned. Living with the locals, fishing and trekking were some of our resting activities.

We also had a few days in Chiang Mai, to visit some of the most beautiful buddhist temples and simply stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere of an Asian town.
