Volunteering trips 2025

April 2025 - Chiang Mai, Thailand

A two week volunteering trip to the Northern part of Thailand, in the area around Chiang Mai. We have spent one week working in a remote Hill Tribe village helping the villagers with painting and refresching their local school. We also fixed a nearby water dam, precious source of water for plantations and animals. Dams are also a mean to stop erosion during heavy rain periods and the presence of water simply keeps the area moist and green . During our second week we worked at an elephant sanctuary that hosts around 100 injured elephants. Our tasks included picking and preparing food for the elephants, lots of banana plants and fruits. We have also planted different type of forest trees in preparation of a new piece of land where around 15 elephants will find their home. We happened to be in Chiang Mai right for the Songkran ceremonies, which was a fun family-firendly celebration of the Thai New Year. Some of us participated in a cooking class where we cooked and ate delicious Thai (!) food.
