Volunteering trips 2022

May 2022 - Chiang Mai, Thailand

A big Return after the pandemic to the Northern part of Thailand, in the area around Chiang Mai. Excellent, fruitful trip! We worked on 3 different projects: 1. Building of a water tank with cement rings in the village of Ban wangpha and planting of a fruit tree with every family of the village on their own grounds. 2. planting of bananas for the elephants at Elephant Nature Park. The park is currently taking care of 120 elephants, the last 40 having found a safe home at ENP during the pandemics. 3. Planting banana plants and different fruit trees as part of an Agroforestry project in Hauy Bong aiming at transforming a rubber monoculture into an equilibrated ecosystem where trees of different species and height create a natural living space for the local fauna. A well studied plan to collect rainwater provides the essential conditions for the growth of the forest even in dry season and is also home of an aquaculture. Fruit, vegetables and fish provide food on the table and rubber an income to the villagers. A sustainable project from all points of vue.

As for all our trips we have distributed used glasses to people in the Hill Tribe villages for which I want to thank Avesyn/Aveny Ögonklinik in Gothenburg for their generous contribution.
