May 2024 - Sicily, Aeolian Islands

We had a one week of total immersion in the Italian language while visiting the islands of Lipari and Salina. Many beautiful walks around the islands combined with the use of public transportation. In Lipari we visited the Archeological Museum of the Lipari Isalnds which is world renown for its richness. We walked on the path of the Lipari political prisoners of the beginning of the 1900s. We walked though the old pumice quarries which are an important part of the history of the island. A loverly historical hotel was our home. After a few days we sailed over to Salina to discover the hidden location where the film "The Postman" was turned. Salina is known for its capers which are produced in small local farms. We had the opportunity to meet people of the islands and share stories and meals together. Excellent local food, good wines, tasting of local produce were part of this Aeolian experience.

August - September 2024- Dolomites with trekking, music, Italian classes and one night up in the mountains

A one week trip where we go trekking in the beautiful Dolomites around Cavalese in Trentino Alto Adige. 4-5 hikes are planned, either led by a local guide or by myself. We will have the opportunity to join an open air concert in a breathtaking atmosphere high up in the mountains. We will spend one night up in the mountains in a Rifugio and will wake up early in the morning to see the sunrise. We shall visit Trento and Cavalese and will get the opportunity to visit local producers of grappa and cheese. In the evenings we will delight ourselves with the typical cuisine of the Dolomites in a rustic mountain atmosphere. December 2024 - January 2025 - Napoli, Italy

A one week New Year's trip to Napoli (December 28th 2024 - January 4th 2025) in collaboration with Luca Cesarini. A trip that includes among other things visits of the Montecassino kloster, the island of Capri with Axel Munthe's house, Napoli's catacombs and Fontanelle's cemetery which both tell a very special story of Napoli once upon a time as well as the ancient Pompei settlement. Pasta, mozzarella and wine production will be part of our tour. We have a one hour Italian class every day and we will be treated with local cuisine lunch and dinner. New Year will be celebrated in a very special way, ask for the program of the trip to unveil the surprise!
