May 2023 - Sicily, Aeolian Islands

A one week of total immersion in the Italian language with a very pleasant group of 7 enthusiasts! We spent a few nights on the island of Lipari in a delightful and friendly historical hotel, discovering the island by footh or local transportation. We focused on the historical aspects of Lipari such as " the Lipari of political prisoners" under fascism in Italy and the abandoned pumice quarry which is of great historical importance. The next few nights in Salina allowed us to discover the hidden location where the film "The Postman" was turned. We visited local, very local! producers of Malvasia delle Lipari and capperi and enjoyed beautiful views of Salina and the surrounding Eolian islands during our walks.The nature, the excellent local food, a glass of wine, the Sicilian spring sunshine and good local and non local company made this a very special week!

September 2023 - Puglia , in the Trulli Valley

One week with Italy and Italian enthusiasts in the Valle d'Itria, the valley of the "trulli". We visited small villages as Cisternino, Locorotondo and Alberobello as well as the baroccan Martina Franca. We had very interesting visits of the small botanical garden of Lama degli Ulivi with Giuseppe, the fig paradise of I Giardini di Pomona with Paolo and the garden born on the rock of Moscatella with Filippo. The garden visits were crowned by a surprise visit of a Renaissance villa and garden in Altamura thanks to Filippo's connections. All parks and gardens were of great interest for their creativity and effort to respect and enrich the environment. During the stay the bio-Agriturismo di Serragambetta was our home and we all have unforgettful memories of a joined "orecchiette" making evening and an outdoor pizza eve accompanied by dancing tarantella under the stars. All in Italian of course: before, during and afterwords!
