Easter 2024 - Chiang Mai, Thailand

A two week trip to the Northern part of Thailand, in the area around Chiang Mai. We spent one week working at Elephant Nature Park, an elephant sanctuary that hosts more than 100 injured elephants. Our tasks included building elephant fences, making a dam in the river to create a pool for the elephants in dry season, preparing mounts of corn for the elephants and planting trees. We had wonderful opportunities to enjoy and see the elephants. During the second week we were in a Hill tribe village near the Myanmar border helping out villagers with a couple of drainage projects as well as the building of a wall to prevent erosion by the river. Small, concrete projects which we started and finished with lots of lokal help. The way it should be! Village life, shared meals and accounts from the elephants and local life were our daily treat.
