January 2015 - Chiang Mai, Thailand
Back in the Chiang Mai area with yet another group of enthusiastic travelers. We spent one week working hard at the Elephant Nature Park. We had a chance to meet the founder Lek Chailert to hear her story with all the challenges it has involved to create this retirement home for the elephants. A trek in the jungle with Mr. Chom brought us up and down the hills and by some beautiful waterfalls. Chiang Mai with Kik, the temples and the night market, the cooking class and some good flavoury meals were enjoyed by us all.
June 2015 - Chiang Mai, Thailand
Three full weeks of volunteering with 14 young students from the IHGR school in Gothenburg in collaboration with the Green Volunteers from Singapore. A successfull intensive period where we first worked in the Hill Tribe village of Maelaoop, built a couple of toilets for the kindergarten kids and a dam for the villagers to collect water. A second part of the trip involved planting 3000 trees in the village of Baan Lao, part of a reforestation project under the umbrella of the Elephant Nature Park. We then spent the last four days at the park itself helping out with the elephant chores.
We have all learned and experienced a great deal!
