Volunteering trips 2014

January 2014 - Chiang Mai, Thailand

The trip involved spending one week volunteering for the Elephant Nature Park, trekking and rafting in the jungle for a few days with our guide Mr. Chom. In Chiang Mai we had time to enjoy and discover the city, partly with some guided visits of a few of the many temples explained by Kik, our guide. A full day Thai cooking class was one of the highlights!

The volunteering week at the Elephant Nature Park involved helping out with preparing, stocking and collecting the food for the 30+ elephants of the park, as well as cleaning the shelters, bathing and feeding these wonderful animals. But more than that, after a week at ENP one gains a full understanding of the situation and reality of the Asian Elephant throughout the last century up to the present day.
